Premier Competition & Convention Opportunities
Our teams attend respected competitions and conventions such as NUVO, JUMP, KAR, REVEL, and TREMAINE. These events allow dancers to perform on professional stages, receive valuable feedback from top judges, and gain exposure to industry professionals and college recruiters.

Team Options That Fit Your Family
We understand that every dancer and family has different goals, which is why we offer flexible commitment levels: (New to come in 2026-2027 Season)

  • Performance Team – A great introduction to team dancing with 1–2 competitions per year and a recreational focus

  • Competition Team – 3–5 regional competitions with an emphasis on strong technique and growth

  • Pre-Pro Team – National competitions, intensive training, and college-prep support for dancers seeking a higher level of commitment

Our competitive program is designed to build confidence, discipline, and lifelong friendships—while supporting your dancer’s goals both on and off the stage.

Our Training Philosophy

Where Technical Excellence Meets Artistic Growth

At Salt Flat, competition is about more than trophies—it’s about helping dancers grow into confident, capable, and well-rounded artists. Our training philosophy blends strong technical foundations with creative expression, personal development, and real-world preparation.

Technique Comes First

We believe great dancing starts with a strong foundation. Our competition program emphasizes:

  • Mandatory ballet training for all competitive dancers

  • Cross-training in multiple styles including contemporary, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop

  • Weekly strength and conditioning to support endurance and power

  • Injury prevention education and body awareness to promote safe, healthy training

Performance That Stands Out

We prepare dancers to perform with confidence, clarity, and professionalism by offering:

  • High-quality, age-appropriate choreography that challenges and highlights each dancer

  • Focus on stage presence, musicality, and storytelling

  • Video review and individualized feedback

  • Mock competitions and in-studio performance opportunities to build confidence

Growing the Whole Dancer

Our program is designed to support dancers both in and out of the studio:

  • Leadership opportunities for older and senior team members

  • Goal-setting and self-reflection to encourage personal accountability

  • Time management and commitment skills that translate beyond dance

  • A supportive team culture that values effort, growth, and individuality

College & Career Preparation

For dancers interested in pursuing dance beyond high school, we provide guidance and support including:

  • Preparation for college dance program auditions

  • Resume and video reel development

  • Exposure to college recruiters at competitions and conventions

  • Assistance with scholarship and audition opportunities

At Salt Flat, we train dancers to be strong, versatile, and confident—on stage and in life.

“I was apart of Salt Flat’s competitive team this past year and absolutely adored my experience. The Salt Flat fosters such an inclusive, enthusiastic, and hardworking atmosphere that truly enabled me to reach my fullest potential while having so much fun. I would recommend this studio for anybody, whether you are looking to intensively train or try a class for fun. Brittany has fully encompassed and integrated the studio’s values of kindness, collaboration, and dedication into our everyday routine both in classes, at competitions, and at local events!”

Your Questions, Answered

  • Our most advanced dancers currently train three days per week, with 3–4 hours of training per day. Competitions and performances take place primarily on weekends, so families should expect some weekends to be reserved for shows and competitions throughout the season. Our standard season runs September-May with some summer requirements.

We understand that each dancer’s goals are different. Depending on the level of team placement, dancers can expect 1–3 days per week of required training. For those who wish to pursue additional growth, optional supplemental training is available for dancers seeking more intensive hours.

This structure allows families to choose a commitment level that best fits their dancer’s goals while maintaining a balanced and supportive training environment.

  • Competition team costs include monthly tuition $90-$275 a month, ($395 family cap) costume fees, competition entry fees, and travel expenses. We provide detailed cost breakdowns during auditions and offer payment plans including Klarna. Total annual investment ranges depend on team level and number of groups/solos your dancer accepts after auditions.

  • No! We welcome dancers new to competition who demonstrate strong technique, coachability, and commitment. We evaluate potential, not just current skill level.

  • Our award-winning facility, professional-level instruction, and commitment to both technical excellence and personal growth truly set our program apart. We believe in developing the whole dancer—not just within our studio, but beyond it.

We actively encourage and support outside training and additional opportunities, including extra competitions, conventions, auditions, intensives, and specialized workshops. When dancers seek to expand their experience, our staff is there to guide them, help coordinate schedules, and prepare them to succeed.

At Salt Flat, we’re not just training exceptional performers—we’re nurturing confident, disciplined, and motivated young people who are empowered to pursue every opportunity that fuels their growth.

  • We provide guidance on college auditions, help with video reels, connect dancers with college recruiters at competitions, and offer scholarship application support.
